Get Your White Fillings in Belfast: A Strong, Natural Solution for Tooth Restoration

Fillings are a crucial aspect of dental care, as they help to preserve the integrity of your teeth, prevent further decay, and protect against tooth loss. When dental decay or trauma compromises the structure of your tooth, it’s important to address the issue promptly to avoid pain, infection, and more extensive treatments down the line.

Why Choose White Fillings Over Traditional Options?

At Martina Collins Dental & Skin Clinic, we use premium white composite fillings—a durable and aesthetically pleasing dental solution for restoring your teeth. Unlike traditional metal fillings, these advanced restorations are colour-matched to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, ensuring a flawless and discreet finish. If you’re in Belfast seeking a subtle, natural-looking way to renew your smile, our silver to white fillings are an excellent choice.

White composite fillings are made from a durable resin that is carefully placed in layers to ensure a strong bond to the tooth. This bond allows us to preserve more of your tooth structure since less of the tooth needs to be removed during the procedure. The filling is then sculpted and polished to match the natural contours of the tooth, leaving you with a comfortable and functional restoration.

Benefits of White Fillings

  • Aesthetic appeal: White fillings are virtually invisible, making them ideal for fillings in visible areas, such as the front teeth. The material can be matched precisely to your natural tooth colour for a seamless result.
  • Minimised tooth removal: The bonding properties of composite fillings require less tooth structure to be removed, preserving the tooth’s strength and integrity.
  • Durability: Composite materials are strong, durable, and resistant to wear, providing long-lasting protection for your teeth. Less sensitivity: As white fillings bond directly to the tooth, there is often less sensitivity compared to other types of fillings.

Types of Decay Treated with White Fillings

White fillings are suitable for treating a variety of dental issues, including:

  • Cavities caused by decay: White fillings are highly effective in filling cavities caused by bacteria and decay.
  • Tooth fractures or chips: Composite fillings can be used to repair teeth damaged by trauma, making them as functional and strong as before.
  • Cosmetic improvements: They can also address minor cosmetic concerns, such as small imperfections or discolouration, blending seamlessly with your natural teeth.

The Procedure: What to Expect

The procedure begins with the application of a local anaesthetic to numb the area around the affected tooth. In some cases, if the filling does not require the removal of a significant amount of decay, the procedure can be performed without anaesthetic. Once the area is prepared, the decayed portion of the tooth is removed, and the cavity is cleaned and shaped. The white composite filling is then placed in layers, with each layer being cured to ensure a strong bond. Finally, the filling is smoothed and polished to match the natural contours of the tooth.

Post-Treatment Care

One of the key advantages of white fillings is that they set in place immediately, meaning you can resume normal activities—eating and drinking—right after the procedure. However, if you received a local anaesthetic, be cautious not to bite your tongue or consume hot food or beverages until the numbness wears off.
