What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are an effective solution for altering the shape, colour, or alignment of teeth to enhance your smile's overall appearance. Made from thin layers of medical-grade porcelain, they are expertly crafted by skilled technicians to match the natural colour, shape, and texture of your teeth.

Whether you need to perfect a single tooth or achieve a complete smile makeover, veneers offer a versatile and natural-looking option. Porcelain veneers are designed to correct a wide range of cosmetic imperfections, making them a popular choice for patients in Belfast who want to upgrade their smile.

Why Porcelain Veneers Are the Ultimate Solution for Transforming Your Smile

  • Natural aesthetics: Designed to mimic the translucency and sheen of natural teeth, veneers seamlessly blend with your smile.

  • Durability: Porcelain veneers are a durable solution, lasting 10–15 years or longer with proper care, making them a worthwhile long-term investment.

  • Custom Fit: Each veneer is uniquely crafted for a perfect fit, ensuring optimal comfort and functionality.

  • Minimal enamel removal: The procedure preserves the majority of your natural tooth structure, requiring only a thin layer of enamel to be removed.

What Does Porcelain Veneer Treatment Involve?

  • First appointment: During your first appointment at our Belfast clinic, we'll take the time to understand your aesthetic goals. Our team will thoroughly examine your teeth, discuss your expectations, and take precise impressions. These impressions are then sent to a skilled dental laboratory where your custom veneers are created.

  • Preparation: To prepare your teeth, a minimal amount of enamel is gently removed from the front surface of the tooth to ensure the veneer fits perfectly and looks natural. This step is necessary to make room for the veneer and maintain a seamless integration with your natural teeth.

  • Fitting and bonding: Once the veneers are ready, they will be carefully bonded to your teeth with dental cement and cured with a special light, ensuring a secure and long-lasting fit. The result is a smile that looks and feels entirely natural.

This process is designed for minimal discomfort and maximum results, giving you a smile that is not only beautiful but built to last.

Why Whitening Before Porcelain Veneers Makes All the Difference

Porcelain veneers are custom-crafted to match the colour of your teeth, but since they don't stain like natural enamel, whitening your teeth beforehand allows your veneers to be matched to a shade that complements your smile perfectly. Whitening your natural teeth prior to getting porcelain veneers ensures your underlying teeth are as bright as possible, helping to achieve a seamless, uniform result.

About Service

Porcelain Veneers are the more traditional approach to changing the shape, colour or position of teeth to create a more attractive smile. They are made of thin layers of porcelain that are crafted by a lab technician to cover the front surface of a tooth.  They can be used to transform just one tooth or an entire smile.

Porcelain Veneers are very durable and help to achieve a natural result as they are made to look just like your own teeth. A small amount of enamel is removed from your own tooth to allow the veneer to look as natural as possible.

You may be interested in porcelain veneers if:

Frequently Asked Questions

Some of the frequently asked questions

What does the treatment involve?

A veneer is completed over two appointments. At the first appointment your tooth will be prepped and shaped. Impressions will be taken which are sent to a skilled dental laboratory who will make the veneer. After 2 weeks the veneer will be ready and cemented on to the tooth.

What is the difference between a crown and a veneer?

Veneers are used mainly on the front teeth which are visible when you smile. A crown is used on back teeth or if the tooth is heavily broken down. A veneer is a thin shell which covers the front surface of the tooth. A crown is more like a cap which fits over the whole tooth.

Can I still whiten my teeth?

Porcelain veneers do not whiten. We always recommend whitening your teeth before getting a veneer so it can then be matched up to the same shade as your teeth.
